A PROGRAMME OF SUBSTANCE

Convocation, scholarship and service

Ceremony, scholarship and fellowship, in the service of law and justice.

ANNUAL CONVOCATION

The Chamber’s signature gathering brings members from across Ghana and the diaspora together once each year for a programme that combines ceremony, scholarship and fellowship. The Convocation features a Presidential Address setting out the Chamber’s priorities, distinguished lectures by leading jurists, constitutional debates on questions of national importance, policy discussions convened with government and civil society, a gala dinner, an awards ceremony recognising outstanding service to law and justice, and the formal induction of new Fellows into the Chamber.

CHAMBER LECTURES

Throughout the year, internationally respected judges, senior advocates, academics and policymakers deliver lectures under the Chamber’s auspices, on constitutional law, commercial law, technology law, international arbitration, human rights, artificial intelligence, international trade and judicial reform. These lectures are published and archived, forming a growing body of accessible legal thought available to the wider profession and to students of the law.

LEGAL POLICY FORUM

The Chamber periodically publishes independent position papers addressing questions of constitutional reform, judicial independence, commercial law reform, corporate governance, emerging legal technologies and access to justice. These papers are prepared by working groups of Fellows with relevant expertise, subjected to internal peer review, and released under the Chamber’s name as considered, non-partisan contributions to public policy.
